The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes
Deliciously dark, beautiful art and twisted characters. I've waited so, so long to be able to read this in book form and it really did not disappoint. The Sandman is a complex character, and the "Lord of Dreams" aspect allows for an element of surreality that I often miss in literature, both in comic and novel form. I have no doubt that this will cause nightmares at some point, but at least they will be beautifully drawn and skilfully narrated.
