Really interesting concept, and I liked the shifting viewpoints between characters. My favourite part was still the first, and I can see how it possibly stood alone as a moving and effective short story. I think some of the merits of the idea got a little lost in the writing - the whole "underwater" scene was interesting but lost me a little, it felt disconnected from everything. This may have been the point, but I'm not sure. Still, the writing was not bad and very readable, and I found the basic plot strong enough to really enjoy reading. Not quite a four star effort but definitely recommended.
